services
Emily consults from her rooms in North Fitzroy. She takes a holistic and collaborative approach, incorporating mind, body and soul. Emily invites her clients to pause, reflect and explore their personal histories and experiences. When we become more aware of our patterns and behaviours we are furnished with a broader perspective which empowers us to live with purpose, health, vitality and well-being. In addition to helping clients to integrate, heal, find self acceptance and fulfilment, useful tools and techniques are provided which help ease distress and create meaningful change along the way.
It can be a difficult and daunting process starting therapy, Emily aims to make it as easy and comfortable as possible. Here is what to expect.
Prior to Attending:
Prior to your first session you will be emailed an ‘Information and Consent Form’, This form will outline details pertaining to fees, confidentiality, and storage/ access of your information. This form will also request your personal information, contact information, bank details for payment, Medicare details. This form is required to be completed prior to your first session.
First Sessions:
In your first one to three sessions, we undertake an initial assessment in order to ascertain if we are good fit and can work productively together. This involves a semi-structured interview covering a range of topics about your life, history and experiences as well as your goals for therapy. Together we will develop a plan for moving forward, including your therapeutic goals which will be reviewed and revised as needed.
How long does therapy take?
Sessions are 50 minutes long.
Frequency of sessions will be determined following the initial assessment session, based on your individual therapy needs and goals. Typically, sessions are booked weekly or fortnightly to begin with, although this can be reviewed at the end of each session.
The length of treatment is largely determined by your personal goals and the nature of your concerns. I will regularly check in with you to ensure your goals are on track and that we are addressing any barriers you might be facing.
